Taking part in a styled shoot can be a great way of flexing your creative muscle, especially when you’re able to work with an amazing team of talented professionals. Nowadays I don’t have the time to participate in them as much as I used to, so I’m even more excited when I’m able to get involved!
Back in 2015 Laura Holden of Holden Bespoke and 1/2 of the team at This Modern Revelry invited me to take part in a shoot at The Old Parish Rooms in Rayleigh. The look of the shoot was blush, grey and copper. The Pinterest board was beyond beautiful! Contemporary with a touch of scandi with Nichola from Lemonade Pictures shooting, so there was pretty much a guarantee that it would be great.
Now, I’m definitely not the first person to use marbled sugarpaste on a cake (it’s normally something you try hard to avoid when colour mixing!) but my marble cake has proven to be super popular and I like to think of myself as pushing for the trend here in the UK. Since I released the pictures of my marble cake last year, it’s been pinned an insane number of times, shared all over the internet and had lovely features in bridal magazines and news publications worldwide. My little cake was in Harper’s Bazaar, The Independent, US Brides and I’m still getting media requests for it to this day. More and more cake makers here are experimenting with marble and I like to think of myself as the pioneer marble caker on this side of the pond!
Couples love the effortless almost architectural look you can achieve when you do it right and we’ve lovingly produced marble cakes of all sizes for weddings from Kings College London to Morden Hall. I’ve got even more stunning variations and personal touches designed for upcoming 2017 and ’18 weddings so keep your eye out!
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves!
