Early last year I had that chance to work with Knot and Pop, the wedding and event planners. They had a radical new cake concept that they wanted me to bring to life, and so ‘secrets of the heart’ was born. The concept is simple, what if your guests all got a little surprise in their slices of cake.
And by surprises what the girls really meant were individually wrapped secrets that the couple could share with their guests…
The cake had another surprise. It had a centre baked in so that when you cut through it, a sweet bright red heart was looking back at you – aww. The sweet secrets and sign were designed by BerinMade, I’ll never get over her amazing typography.
To keep the heart theme going, the bottom tier was covererd in hundreds of and folded sugarpaste hearts. Each one was individually cut, folded and iced onto the cake. I love how the folded hearts mirror the folded paper hearts that Knot and Pop produced. I’m handy with a camera but I could never produce the sort of images that Dasha Caffrey did.
The shoot was so popular it was featured on Wedding Chicks, Want That Wedding and Belle Amour.
